Sunset Freedom

An orange light explosion hits her eyes
The sun sets the sky and the sea to flame
Creeping through the air like a lava slide
It takes hold of her heart and frees her brain

She said, there’s something I’ve got in me
A feeling or a memory
I don’t know
But I know
Its two people in the dark
With matching broken hearts
That long
To scream:

I’m an easy target standing still
I’d have run but you would not let me
You can point that barrel where you will
I keep the chamber empty

Where her skin meets the earth is sacred ground
She lays her body down in ash and sand
Dust swirls through the air without a sound
Only a portion falls into his hand

He said there’s something I’ve got in me
A feeling or a memory
I don’t know
But I know
It's two people with ungodly
Dreams to find somebody
Who longs
To scream:

For you I’d walk the world round
On land and over water
I’d take all your walls and tear them down
Revealing heaven’s only daughter

An orange light explosion hits her eyes
The sun sets the sky and the sea to flame
Creeping through the air like a lava slide
It takes hold of her heart and frees her brain

She said, there’s something I’ve got in me
A feeling or a memory
I don’t know
But I know
It's two people’s happy ending
They watch the sun descending
They’re still
They’re free
